World of Warcraft players have a new expansion to look forward to. Blizzard revealed the sixth expansion to its seminal MMO, called simply Legion.
The World of Warcraft: Legion expansion brings with it a new continent, the Broken Isles, which has been invaded by the Burning Legion. New dungeons and raids, a level cap of 110, a new Honor System, along with new Artifact Weapons and the Demon Hunter class.
During its quarterly call with investors on August 4, Activision Blizzard revealed that World of Warcraft subscriptions had dropped to 5.6 million, down from 7.1 million in March and down from 10 million before that.
As is usually the case, however, subscriptions to the MMO rise in the wake of an announced expansion and then slowly drop off again once players have either seen and done all they can do. Back in 2010, World of Warcraft subscriptions peaked at over 12 million.
With Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, and the upcoming Legion expansion, the World of Warcraft brand is still extremely popular with gamers and Blizzard has gotten creative with ways to generate revenue from what’s unarguably a powerful brand in gaming. The first public trailer for the Warcraft movie will release this November. Best place for wow gold
